The selected stops are now being finalized, as well as opportunities to meet and greet with local business owners and constituents. I am currently reaching out to any and all who would be interested in joining me for the ride, one day or all four. Please let me know at least a week in advance so that I will know how many will be in attendance for lunch as well as whether lodging arrangements are necessary. Do not hesitate to contact me for more information concerning any aspect of the ride.
In lieu of a registration fee, I am requesting that a contribution be made to a non-profit of your choice, possibly one in District 37. Thanks so much and I hope you will join me this last week in August for what will be a most memorable day.
Day 4 - Dorchester County, which is physically shaped like a heart, is known as the Heart of Chesapeake Country. Rich in Chesapeake Bay history, folklore and tradition, Dorchester offers unsurpassed opportunities to experience a most beautiful and unique part of Maryland.
Day 4 presents a new route in Dorchester County. For the first time, the DORCHESTER ride will start and finish from the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad (HTUR) National Historic Park inside the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. From there, we will make a counter-clockwise loop by heading north through Church Creek then through Madison, down Smithville Road through the wetlands and back up through the Refuge to the HTUR Park Visitor Center. From there we will head east, passing Blackwater Paddle & Pedal for a stop if necessary. We continue on to the Bucktown Store and then over Decoursey Bridge Road to Drawbridge Road, south and back along Griffin Neck Road and Bestpitch Ferry Road and return to the HTUR Park Visitor's Center. Just over 59 miles.
