Crawfish Boil & Muskrat Stew Festival

1-6 p.m.; 305 High Street, Cambridge, MD; Crabi Gras Presents the 8th Annual Crawfish Boil & Muskrat Stew Fest. Celebrate the Eastern Shore’s muskrat heritage and more on Sunday, Feb. 25 at the Crawfish Boil & Muskrat Stew Fest in downtown Cambridge, Maryland. The festival happens every year the day after the National Outdoor Show, which is a celebration of local culture with muskrat skinning championships that draw contenders from Maryland and from Louisiana, where muskrat are prevalent. (That's where the crawfish come in.) So it's a real Muskrat Weekend! The Crawfish Boil & Muskrat Stew Fest is set for 1-6pm in the 300 block of High Street in Cambridge, Maryland (Just outside the High Spot Gastropub). The outdoor event features live music, food, libations, and more. Plus, new this year, the Muskrat Leg Eating Contest! (Registration begins Feb. 1 at the High Spot, 305 High St., Cambridge.) The menu, prepared by Chef Patrick Fanning of High Spot, Stoked, and Rock Lobstah, includes Crawfish Boiled, Crawfish Cakes, Crawfish Pie, Crawfish Everything! Plus Muskrat Stew, Muskrat Tacos, Smoked Muskrat, and more. Hot dogs and burgers will also be on the menu for the less courageous. Music by the Jimmy Cole Band. The Crawfish Boil and Muskrat Stew Fest will be a ticketed entry, with a $5 admission charge. Proceeds benefit Cambridge Main Street. Eastern Shore business Crabi Gras is organizing the event.
