Sail on a Skipjack

1-3 p.m. Skipjack Nathan of Dorchester, Long Wharf, High Street & Water Street, Cambridge, MD 21613

Experience a sail on the scenic Choptank River aboard the Skipjack Nathan of Dorchester, a traditional oystering vessel and an icon of the Chesapeake Bay. On most sails, you can watch the crew demonstrate dredging for oysters. Each sail is unique depending on wind, weather, captain and crew. On most Saturdays during the season (May-October), the Nathan offers two-hour sails from 1 to 3pm. Sails depart from Long Wharf Dock, near the corner of High and Water Streets in Cambridge, Maryland. Adults: $35, children 6-12: $10, under 6: free. For details and to reserve by credit card, go to

www.skipjack-nathan.org. Private charters are also available. The Nathan carries up to 20 passengers. The Nathan is also offering some sunset cruises. NOTE: All public sails run from 1 to 3pm and depart from Long Wharf, EXCEPT September 29, which runs from 10am to 12pm, departing from the Dorchester County Boat Basin (park at the County Office Building, 501 Court Lane, Cambridge, MD.)
