Dear Community Partners and Members,
Dorchester County’s Opioid Intervention Team and the Dorchester County Arts Council invite you to join us for a reception on Tuesday, October 16th, from 5:00-6:30pm to learn how to get involved in Wellness in the Storm, an April 2019 project presented in partnership with the New Day Campaign. Wellness in the Storm is a public awareness initiative that uses arts programming as a method to engage our community and challenge the stigma associated with mental illness and substance use disorder. The concept includes art workshops, events, and an exhibition, to take place at locations throughout Dorchester County.
We will be joined by Peter Bruun, whose loss of his daughter Elisif from an overdose on February 11, 2014 led to his founding the New Day Campaign. Since 2015, the New Day Campaign has brought innovative arts programming to de-stigmatize behavioral health challenges and educate and connect people around these issues across the state, including Kent, Harford, and Allegany Counties, and now Dorchester!
Please see the attached flyer for more information and share with our community. There will be light refreshments, and the meeting will begin at 5:30pm at DRI-Dock Recovery & Wellness Center. We aspire for this project to be creative, collaborative, and community-oriented. Thus, to be successful, we not only want you, WE NEED YOU! Please join us as we share our vision for Wellness in the Storm and seek your ideas and involvement.
