Teen Poetry Workshop
Grace Cavalieri, Maryland’s 10th Poet Laureate, leads a free workshop for teens on writing poetry on Jan. 18 from 1 to 3pm at the Dorchester Center for the Arts. Tell your story through poetry. This course involves talks, prompts and writing on the spot. “We don’t make poems as instant relics, but rather access the ideas always available to us.” The students will learn methods to jumpstart poems at home. Please bring writing materials to the workshop. Grace will record each poet with at least a few of their new lines created, to make a podcast of the event. For those under 18 years of age, please bring signed permission slips which will be furnished at registration so that photos may be taken and used by the Maryland State Arts Council.
