Message from our President/CEO 

Thank you for taking time to learn more about the Dorchester Chamber of Commerce.  Founded in 1921, we are the community’s oldest, largest and most effective business advocate. Our membership represents all sectors of business and community activity found in the heart of Chesapeake Country. The 17-member Board of Directors and staff work tirelessly on behalf of the membership and our community to realize the vision for “a strong, sustainable, vibrant, and inclusive community”. 

We serve a diverse range of industries and attractions.   The county has strong roots in the agriculture and seafood industries that still provide a strong base for our economy today.  We are home to large and small manufacturing and logistic facilities shipping and servicing products all over the world – from architectural mesh to yachts.   Local entrepreneurs have created unique and exciting ways to share our spectacular natural resources.  We have a world class Hyatt Resort sitting on the shores of the Choptank River.  You can engage in water sports of any type as well as some of the best hunting and fishing to be found on the East Coast.  There are festivals held throughout the year celebrating our rich cultural history including the largest Ice Festival in the region hosted by the Chamber.

The team at the Chamber is dedicated to providing the highest level of service to our members and the Dorchester community. We are driven by an unwavering commitment to our Mission: “To advance Dorchester County through educating, promoting and nurturing a strong, resilient business community.”   We work closely with other key business support organizations and all levels of government on issues that affect our members.  The Chamber takes a proactive approach to the challenges that could positively or negatively affect the viability of businesses in our community.  We work hard to provide thoughtful and actionable responses to issues that arise at the local, state and federal level.  These working partnerships and actions provide a strong business support system for existing and new businesses.

We want to be known as the connector of choice for our membership.  We know how important it is to be networked within our community and making connections among our diverse membership is key to our continued growth.  Our wide variety of events is one way to make connections happen and they range from our Annual Meeting of 350 business and community leaders to Ribbon Cuttings with a few dozen members.   These events bring hundreds of business and industry leaders as well as government officials together to provide a forum for you to strengthen and grow your business.
