Lower Shore Autism Community, Inc. (LSAC) is pleased to announce that its application to become a Partner Agency of United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore (UWLES) was approved at the July 2024 meeting of the UWLES Board of Directors.
Highlights of this partnership include such items as:
● Access to ALICE data and Wellness Made Easy information;
● Get Connected volunteer recruitment platform;
● Inclusion in various United Way activities;
● Inclusion in the United Way annual campaign so that United Way donors can designate gifts of $50 or more to LSAC; and
● Access to funding and fundraising assistance, as well as some financial assistance.
Lower Shore Autism Community, Inc. (LSAC) was established in 2021 as a community-based organization serving Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester, starting primarily in Wicomico County, and has been slowly expanding into the rest of the Lower Eastern Shore service area. LSAC is a 501(c)(3) organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service and the Maryland Secretary of State as a registered charity. LSAC currently has seven (7) board members with the potential to add additional board members; 51% of the board must be or have a family member on the autism spectrum. LSAC events include: monthly Family Support Meetings, Teen & Youth Adult Social Club meetings, a First Responder Meet & Greet (September 15th at Winterplace Park), and Autumn Fall Gathering, a Holiday Gathering, and our Annual Family Fun Day. United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore (headed by Pam Gregory, President & CEO) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization serving Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester Counties in Maryland. UWLES is governed by a local volunteer Board of Directors who represent all communities served on the Eastern Shore. UWLES day-to-day activities such as fundraising, optimizing stewardship of all donations, supporting volunteer activities, supporting agency partners, processing campaign pledges, recruiting and training volunteers, and planning special events.
UWLES has a Community Impact Committee comprised of local volunteers who invest over 1,100 hours annually to visit and analyze each agency’s application including budgets, programs, and efficiency in meeting local needs. Funds are approved by the UWLES Board of Directors based on annual campaign fundraising and are distributed monthly to approved partner agency programs.
