• TidalHealth stroke team announces ''Striding Together for Stroke Prevention'' community walks

TidalHealth and its stroke team announce a series of community stroke walks to promote awareness, education, and prevention of stroke.

The event series, entitled “Striding Together for Stroke Prevention: Walk, Learn, and Partner for Health,” will bring together patients, caregivers, and community members for a series of walks at key locations across the region.

Led by Stroke Coordinator Lauren Hitchens, MSN, RN, these walks aim to foster a relaxed and informative atmosphere where participants can learn about stroke prevention, recovery, and the vital importance of early intervention.

"Stroke prevention and recovery are critical to improving the health and well-being of our community," said Hitchens. "This is an opportunity for people to engage with healthcare professionals in an informal setting, while also learning about the signs, risks, and steps for reducing stroke risk. We hope to encourage healthy lifestyles, increase awareness, and offer practical advice that can make a difference in the lives of those who may be affected by stroke."

Walks are planned in the following locations on the following dates and times:

Seaford: Jay’s Nest (Softball Fields Parking Lot)
    Apr. 26 from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

Salisbury: Salisbury City Park (White Pedestrian Bridge)
    May 17 from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

The stroke team has its three goals for the series to increase community engagement, raise awareness and support stroke education. Each walk will be followed by an informal Q&A session, where participants can interact directly with the TidalHealth stroke team, ask questions, and share their own experiences.

Attendees will also have access to educational materials and resources to take home. Advance registration is not required.
