The Arc Central Chesapeake Region (The Arc), a nonprofit committed to transforming lives for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), and its partners, For All Seasons, The Avalon Theater, and the Talbot Department of Emergency Services, supported by the Town of Easton, invite the community to a Day of Remembrance in commemoration of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The organization will join hundreds of others across the community in turning a day of tragedy into a day of support and hope.
The Day of Remembrance event will pay tribute to the individuals lost and injured in the attacks, as well as honor the first responders and the many others who have risen in service to support their community members. This event is the final event in a series of activities that focused on awareness of how community members can support each other during a crisis. The events also focused on emergency preparedness, sharing strategies that ensure that vulnerable populations can receive the help they need should calamity strike. Our activities were inclusive of people of all abilities, including children and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Community members are invited to come share in this event, including a video display of the summer’s activities. Following the ceremony, light refreshments will be offered.
The Day of Remembrance ceremony will feature Beth Ann Langrell, executive director of For All Seasons, who will speak on her personal connection to that tragic day twenty years ago, as well as discuss what services and supports a community like ours can offer each other in times of crisis.
