Heralding Heroes at Juneteenth Weekend

As part of a Juneteenth Celebration presented in partnership with the Dorchester Center for the Arts, Groove City Black Heritage, Alpha genesis, Handsell and Dorchester County Tourism.
Come visit the listing of all 563 U.S. Colored Troups who served in the Civil War at Dorchester County Visitor Center. This listing will be displayed from June 7 through June 19.

On June 14, at 6 p.m. at the Dorchester Center for the Arts, please enjoy a Free reception with Dr. Clara Small, followed by a Historical overview of all Dorchester's Colored Troops in the Civil War at 7 pm (Suggested donation $5)

On June 15 at 12 noon at the Dorchester County Courthousee there will be a Memorial Service honoring all Colored Troops who died during the Civil War with VFW MD Honor Guard presenting.
Then, at 12:30 pm, Heralding Heroes Juneteenth Celebration. All 130 Colored Troops from Dorchester who were present for the first Juneteenth in Texas will be honored by name. Musical selections.
