Speaker Shelby Clendaniel will be the presenter at the monthly South Dorchester Folk Museum's Monthly Presentation.
“Water does move” the life and interest of Shelby Clendaniel. He grew up on the Choptank River in Denton, Maryland and spent many hours on the water. His interest grew as he followed his father and brother in joining the Navy after high school. Aboard ship he traveled the world and grew to appreciate all aspects of the water.
His teaching career led him to Dorchester County and enjoying its community of watermen. South Dorchester is a special place to him, and his artwork focuses on its nautical history and how it has affected lives, then and now.
He tries to capture some of South Dorchester’s disappearing landmarks. The buildings of the area are the most identifiable. His sketches take us back to a previous time and keep us reminded of its history.
The South Dorchester Folk Museum (SDFM), in cooperation with the Dorchester County Historical Society, presents this FREE program in its lecture series about local history. For more information about the SDFM, visit our website, www.sdfmuseum.net, or call 410-228-6175.
The public is warmly invited to attend. Reservations are not needed.
